Gaza children and guiltless massacred
“Gaza has been enduring Israeli policies of extermination and vandalism since June, 2006…
Israel has turned the Gaza Strip into the largest concentration camp, reminiscent of Bergen
Bilsen and Auschwits, with the largest population of prisoners in the world. The continuing
international conspiracy of silence towards the genocidal war taking place against the
1.3 million civilians in Gaza indicates complicity in these war crimes”. (Statement from an
activist collective in Gaza)
On 11th March 2012, activist Groups in Gaza The One Democratic State Group,Palestinian
Students’ Campaign for the Academic Boycott of Israel, Gaza BDS Working Group, and the
University Teachers’ Association in Palestine condemned the latest Israeli war crimes committed
in the Gaza Strip. They have called on the “international community and the Arab and Islamic
worlds, to take up their responsibility to protect the Palestinian people from this heinous aggression and
immediately terminate the continuing Israeli policy of collective punishment”.
The activists are urging the international community to demand an end to the seemingly never-ending
siege of Gaza. They are also reasserting their demand that the International Humanitarian Law and
International Human Rights Law including The Fourth Geneva Convention be brought into practice
under the direction of relevant international structures so that civilian lives and property,
Palestinian women and children are protected.
Israelhas, as usual, offered irrational and unproven pretexts to justify their attacks. Medial outlets
who routinely act as apologists and media bluff masters for Israeli atrocities have acted as the
poster designers for Israeli propaganda. Independent and credible sources have confirmed that
this attack is nothing but a desperate and juvenile bid by Netanyahu to cover up his failure to get
President Obama to rubber stamp his plans for an attack on Iran in the near future. President Obama
had censured Netanyahu for what Obama labelled as “loose talk about war”.
It is now time that Obama and his EU allies get Netanyahu to be cornered into a “freeze settlement”
and “and end to the siege of Gaza” without further hold-up.
With each passing hour, Israeli strikes are continuing and the situation on-the-ground is grim.
Gaza is in crisis already and this military pounding will only exacerbate the humanitarian crisis even further.
PU readers are urged to write letters of protest to Embassies in their respective countries (a simple Google search would provide contact e-mail and fax details). Or, simply write a short mail to Mr. Ehud Barak, Israel’s Minister of Defense – minister@mod.gov.il – Tel: 011-972-3-697-6663; Fax: 011-972-3-697-6218. You may simply ask for an immediate termination of the killing of innocent lives and, instead, get to the core of the conflict- the unjust occupation of Palestinian Territories. A denial to protest now, will only serve as consent for allow Israel to pursue its unjust and cruel actions with impunity.
